Raitt at a fund raiser for Muscular Dystrophy. In 1994, Michael's day job moved him to Anchorage Alaska where he played with several rock, country and jazz bands, settling with the "MO' Better Blues Band". Playing local night clubs in and around the Anchorage area, the "MO' Better Blues Band" gained local and state recognition and was the headliner band at Blues Central, Fly By Night, and Humpy's as well as the annual Talkeetna Music Festival. The band played exclusively for many local and state functions. Currently, the "MO' Better Blues Band" has a CD sampler available through the Internet. Michael moved to Washington DC in May 1999, where he got acclimated to the local scene. He helped form "SHADOWFIRE" in late 1999. The ease with which Michael can settle into a groove, and the ability to utilize different styles make Michael the perfect drummer. He locks into the pocket with Stewart (bass), and the whole thing takes off with a life of it's own... Michael's Philosophy: "Music is a gift that I am able to share with people young and old - of all races and religion. When I look into the audience and see a person tapping to the music, I know that this person, at that moment is not thinking or worrying about their problems; they are giving me the acknowledgment that everything is going just right - right here - right now. If I can take away their negative feelings for just that moment, then today we (the band and I) are a success."
